Common Questions
I forgot my passcode or password. Can you recover my recordings? No. Shruta has no account and no cloud backend, so Spookwerk never has access to your password or the encryption key derived from it. If your iPhone can still confirm it's you (Face ID, Touch ID, or your iPhone passcode), open Settings → Change Password → "I don't remember it" to set a new one. If your iPhone itself can't be unlocked, the recordings can't be recovered — by you or by us.
How do I restore my purchase? Open the app, go to Settings, and tap "Restore Purchases".
Does Shruta send my recordings or transcripts anywhere? No. Recording, transcription, and speaker labeling all happen on your iPhone or Apple Watch. Nothing is uploaded unless you deliberately export or share it yourself.
How do I get a transcript out of Shruta? Open a recording and use the share menu, under the header "Leaves Shruta's encryption." You can copy the transcript or share it as a PDF or text file. From that point the exported copy is outside Shruta's protection.
Do I have to enable voice recognition? No. Voice recognition — Shruta learning to recognise your voice and suggest speaker names — is off by default and fully opt-in. You can turn it on, and remove any remembered voice, at any time in Settings → Your voice.
Support Languages
We answer support emails in English and Dutch. German emails are welcome, but replies may take a little longer.
Privacy
Shruta collects nothing — recordings, transcripts, and voice data stay on your device, encrypted with a key only you hold. Read the full privacy policy.
