Frequently asked questions

Does Shruta upload my recordings to the cloud?

No. Recording, transcription, and speaker labeling all happen on your device. There is no Shruta account and no cloud backend, and Shruta collects no analytics. A recording leaves Shruta only when you explicitly export it yourself.

How does Shruta transcribe without an internet connection?

Shruta runs speech-recognition models on your iPhone. The first use of a language may download model files; after that, transcription works fully offline — in English, Dutch, and German.

Can Shruta tell who said what?

Yes. Shruta separates the speakers on your device and labels each paragraph. Correct a label once and it applies across the whole conversation — and if the automatic speaker count is off, you can reprocess the recording with the exact number of participants.

What happens if I forget my Shruta password?

Shruta has no account and no backdoor — Spookwerk cannot read or recover your recordings. If your vault still unlocks (for example with Face ID), you can set a new password after your iPhone confirms it's you. Otherwise your recordings stay sealed, by design.
